Sayings that will make you fall in love with The Quran again

It will be your crown.

The reader of the Qur’an is like no other. Allah SWT has promised that the one who reads the Qur’an and acts upon it be given a crown on the day of judgement. So strive for that crown!

Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The Quran will be brought on the Day of resurrection and it will say for its reciter: O Lord, decorate him. So he will be clothed with a crown of nobility. Then it will say: O Lord, give him more. So he will be clothed with a suit of nobility. Then it will say: O Lord, be pleased with him. So Allah will be pleased with him and He will say: Recite and rise up, be increased in goodness for every verse.”

(Authentic according to At-Tirmidzi in his Sunan)

If you struggle to read it, Allah rewards you with double.

The Qur’an is not exclusive. It is for everyone, and Allah SWT acknowledges the different groups of people who recite the Qur’an. If you’re struggling, find peace in the words of the Prophet SAW:

The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “The one who is skilled in reciting Quran will be with the noble, honourable scribes and the one who recites Quran and falters therein, and finds it difficult, will have a double reward.”

(Narrated by al-Bukhaari and Muslim)

The reader is like citron that gives off a fragrant scent.

The one who reads the Qur’an is far and beyond the ranks of normal people. The one who reads and acts upon the Qur’an surpasses the rest in rank, benefit and persona.

The Prophet (SAW) said, “The example of a believer who recites the Qur’an and acts on it, like a citron which tastes nice and smells nice. And the example of a believer who does not recite the Qur’an but acts on it, is like a date which tastes good but has no smell. And the example of a hypocrite who recites the Qur’an is like a Raihana (sweet basil) which smells good but tastes bitter. And the example of a hypocrite who does not recite the Qur’an is like a colocynth which tastes bitter and has a bad smell.”

(Narrated by al-Bukhaari)

It is the best form of Zikr and prayer.

Undoubtedly, the best form of Zikr (remembrance) is in reciting the Qur’an. It is said in a Prophetic Narration:

Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri (God be pleased with him) stated that the Prophet (SAW) said: “God, Sublime and Most High says: “Whomever the Qur’an and My remembrance preoccupy him from beseeching Me (ie making du’a to Me), I give him the best of what the beseechers are given. The superiority of the Word of God, Sublime and Most High, over all others is like the superiority of God Most High over His creation.”

(At-Tirmidzi in a well-authenticated Hadith)

This comes to show of how reading the Qur’an can even help us in our affairs and wants, so read the Qur’an and you shall find that Allah SWT will honour and bless you.

The Qur’an shall determine your rank.

The Qur’an is one of the determining factors of your rank in the eyes of Allah SWT, with regard to the verse you last read. To achieve this, one must remember that it is not just about mere recitation, it is also to act upon and incorporate the Qur’an in our daily lives. This is how a true companion of the Qur’an is supposed to be.

Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “It will be said to the companion of the Quran: Recite and ascend as you recited in the world! Verily, your rank is determined by the last verse you recite.”

(Sunan at-Tirmidzi)

It will be your saviour on the day of judgement.

On a day where we search for a saviour, the Qur’an will intercede for us, if we have spent time with it throughout our lives in this world.

Abu Umaamah al-Baahili said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say: “Read the Qur’aan, for it will come on the Day of Resurrection interceding for its companions.” (Muslim)

‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Fasting and the Quran will intercede for a person on the Day of Resurrection. Fasting will say: O Lord, I kept him from his food and desires during the day; let me intercede for him. And the Quran will say: I kept him from sleeping during the night; let me intercede for him. And they will be allowed to intercede.” (Ahmad)
